This role will support 224 Youth Zone in delivering an exciting programme of cooking, baking and food-related activities. Utilising our fantastic state-of-the-art training kitchen to engage with young people and help to support them in developing valuable life skills in the kitchen. You will come alongside staff to help deliver activitiesand projects that encourage confidence, challenges and positive discussions.
Please note that for this role, you need to be prepared to undergo an enhanced DBS check. 224 Youth Zone will cover the cost of this.
What you can expect to be doing:
- Creating a fun, safe and welcoming environment for our members to walk into.
- Supporting with the set-up and pack down of activities, including cleaning.
- Being creative through food-related activities to encourage conversations.
- Building positive relationships with young people across the youth zone
- Supporting young people with a range of different needs.
- Promoting an inclusive culture where all young people are listened to, cared for and valued.
- Following all safeguarding and child protection policies and procedures, and promptly reporting any concerns in line with organisational policies.
Were looking for someone who:
- is confident, passionate and encouraging.
- Has an interest or experience in youth work, but if not a willingness to learn with the passion of getting involved.
- Has an understanding of food and safety guidelines.
- Some experience working with food.
- Understands the issues that young people from this area may be facing.
- Enjoys meeting and engaging with young people from a wide range of backgrounds.
- Shared the same values of 224 Youth Zone
- Is committed to making a positive impact on the lives of young people.
Time Commitment:
- At least 1 session a week, but there is flexibility.
- Tuesday - Saturday Evenings.
- Timings of sessions can also be discussed.
