Commitment: At least 1 session per week (approx 4-5 hours) - Although there is flexibility with this.
This role will support 224 Youth Zone in delivering an exciting programme of performing arts. From theatre to dance to spoken word. If you have experience in drama, different styles of dance or even puppetry, whatever your performing arts flair, we’d love to have you on the volunteer team!
Please note for this role you need to be prepared to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
What you can expect to be doing:
- Helping deliver any form of performing arts that you excel and enjoy
- Supporting with the set up and pack down of sessions, including cleaning.
- Motivating young people to participate in individual and group dance/acting opportunities, particularly those who may not have done this before.
- Building positive relationships with young people across the youth zone
- Working collaboratively with the Creative Coordinator and other members of staff to support the delivery of sessions (and if you’re confident enough, to lead!).
- Supporting young people with a range of different needs.
- Promoting an inclusive culture where all young people are listened to, cared for and valued.
- Following all safeguarding and child protection policies and procedures, and promptly reporting any concerns in line with organisational policies.
Were looking for someone who:
- Is confident, passionate and encouraging
- Has experience in an area of performing arts, ideally with a dancing/acting background, able to lead a group of young people (but being able to lead is not essential - we can support to develop that!)
- Enjoys meeting and engaging with young people from a wide range of backgrounds.
- Is organised and efficient.
- Is able to support in ensuring there is a positive atmosphere across the youth zone, with any negative behaviour being challenged.

- Is committed to making a positive impact on the lives of young people.
