Commitment: At least 1 session per week (approx 4-5 hours) - Although there is flexibility with this.
This role will support 224 Youth Zone in delivering an exciting, creative music and media offer. From playing instruments, DJ-ing and music production to photography and film-making. If you can ehance an area where young people can get creative, we would love to have you on the volunteer team!
Please note for this role you need to be prepared to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
What you can expect to be doing:
- Helping deliver sessions where young people can experiment with instruments, singing and the production of music, DJ-ing, photography and short films.
- Supporting with the set-up and pack down of sessions, including cleaning.
- Motivating young people to participate in individual and group music/media opportunities, particularly those who may not have done this before.
- Building positive relationships with young people across the youth zone
- Working collaboratively with the Creative Coordinator and other members of staff to support the delivery of sessions (and if you’re confident enough, to lead!).
- Supporting young people with a range of different needs.
- Promoting an inclusive culture where all young people are listened to, cared for and valued.
- Following all safeguarding and child protection policies and procedures, and promptly reporting any concerns in line with organisational policies
Were looking for someone who:
- is confident, passionate and encouraging
- Has experience or talent in an area of music or media, able to lead a group of young people (but being able to lead is not essential - we can support to develop that!)
- Enjoys meeting and engaging with young people from a wide range of backgrounds.
Is organised and efficient. - Is able to support in ensuring there is a positive atmosphere across the youth zone, with any negative behaviour being challenged.
