Asks & Offers Exchange
The Asks and Offers Exchange allows businesses, community groups, community organisations and public body members of Can Do Bristol to connect, exchange resources and collaborate.
Who can use the Asks & Offers Exchange?
Any organisation member on Can Do can use the Exchange.
- Business members representing a team, organisation or company are invited to post Offers
- Community group, organisation and public body team leads and members are invited to post Asks or Offers
- Individual members, residents and employees, are able to view the Exchange function. Asks or Offers submitted by Individual members will not be approved.
What you can Ask / Offer
- Good or very good condition
- Include details on quantity, dimensions, quality, if it’s new or used (as you would if you were selling something online)
- Building materials, for example bricks, turf, timber, tiles, paint
- Office equipment and furniture, for example laptops, desks, chairs, screens
- Other items, for example, first aid kits, high visibility vests; tools, plants
- Training sessions, such as HR consultancy, design skills, web development support, translation, trades services
- One - off, short term, occasional asks and offers of time and expertise. If your ask/offer is for regular, repeated or longer-term support consider using the volunteering function on Can Do Bristol. If your ask/offer is for pro bono professional expertise and services, consider using Quartet Community Foundation’s ProHelp - West of England service
- Meeting rooms, conference halls, outdoor activities space, connection opportunities with businesses and forums, etc
Requirements
To add an ask or offer you'll need to:
- Have a Can Do Bristol account as a Business, Community group/organisation or Public body.
- Have a complete and up to date profile. Including an image representing your group or organisation; a biography and best match tags.
- Be based in Bristol or have a presence in Bristol.
- Be specific about time, describe and quantify this clearly. For example, "This offer is valid for 1 week" or "We are looking for XXX for 2 hours a week on Tuesday afternoons for 3 months"
- Be clear about location if relevant. For example, if an ask/offer is only available to a specific community based near you, state this.
How to instructions
- Make sure you are logged in
- Add a new activity - via your dashboard or go to the activity page: candobristol.co.uk/activities
- Click on ‘Add an Ask’ or ‘Add an Offer’
- Make sure you include a brief description, clear title, an image or video, tags, location and an expiry date
- We will approve and publish your Ask or Offer within 5 working days. If we require more information about your offer before we approve it, we will get in touch
- An approved, uploaded Ask or Offer will be visible in the activities stream and organisations can contact you directly about your Ask or Offer
- An Ask or Offer will remain live on the platform until it’s expiry date or by the owner of Ask or Offer going into their dashboard and ending the activity
- The number of members that respond to an Ask or Offer will show on the activity slide
- More than one member can respond to an Ask or Offer
- Make sure you are logged in with your organisation, team or group account
- Click the blue ‘Make Contact’ button.
- Message the member. The member will be sent an email and a message on Can Do that you have made contact and want to collaborate.
- Make sure you include a brief, clear description of how your team/group or organisation would like to collaborate
- If both parties are happy, confirm arrangements and make the exchange
- After a successful exchange either member can log this by navigating to the Inbox, clicking on the message and then clicking the ‘we’ve exchanged’ button
Please do not use the "Make Contact" button to respond to an Offer or Ask if you are a Can Do Bristol member with an individual account type - this feature is for organisations, groups and team to exhange and collaborate.
