Commitment: At least 1 session per week (approx 4-5 hours) - Although there is flexibility with this.
This role will support 224 Youth Zone in delivering an exciting general youth work programme. Utilising the heart of 224, ‘The Rec Area’, to engage with young people as soon as they walk through the door and whilst they’re in this space, You will support and create fun activities that encourage team building, confidence and positive discussions. Flexibility and imagination is key!
Please note for this role you need to be prepared to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
What you can expect to be doing:
- Creating a fun, safe and welcoming environment for our members to walk into.
- Supporting with the set-up and pack down of sessions, including cleaning.
- Facilitating team-building games and activities.
- Being creative through games and activities to encourage conversations.
- Building positive relationships with young people across the youth zone
- Working collaboratively with the whole team to support the delivery of sessions (and if you’re confident enough, to lead!).
- Supporting young people with a range of different needs.
- Promoting an inclusive culture where all young people are listened to, cared for and valued.
- Following all safeguarding and child protection policies and procedures, and promptly reporting any concerns in line with organisational policies.
We're looking for someone who:
- Is confident, passionate and encouraging
- Has experience in an area of performing arts, ideally with a dancing/acting background, able to lead a group of young people (but being able to lead is not essential - we can support to develop that!)
- Enjoys meeting and engaging with young people from a wide range of backgrounds.
- Is organised and efficient.
- Is able to support in ensuring there is a positive atmosphere across the youth zone, with any negative behaviour being challenged.
- Shares the same values of 224 Youth Zone
- Is committed to making a positive impact on the lives of young people.
