Do you enjoy working with young children and helping them learn through play? St. Chad’s in Patchway is at an exciting time in its development and is looking for an experienced, creative volunteer to help kickstart their in-house toddler group. This will involve planning activities alongside church staff, and leading a team of volunteers for acivity delivery with the help of the diocese volunteering team. It is preferred that applicants have previously worked with young children or are studying towards a qualification involving early years or childcare.
Number of roles available: 1-2, dependent on availability
Weekly hours: Thursdays 9:00-12:00
Location: St Chads Church, 172 Rodway Rd, Patchway, Bristol BS34 5ED
What you’ll be doing

Planning and setting up fun and engaging activities for pre-school children aged under 4

Working closely with the Bristol Diocese volunteering team to recruit and onboard volunteers to help you run the activities

Acting as the lead volunteer for activity delivery

Co-ordinating toddler group volunteers, managing their rota and maintaining relevant communications via email or phone.
Skills we’re looking for

Experience working with children or working towards a childcare or early years qualification is preferred but not a requirement

The ability to lead and collaborate with others as a member of a busy team

Good organisation skills to manage the Toddler Group Volunteers rota and communications

Someone who can attend regularly and consistently

Passionate about supporting and engaging with children through play

As with all roles working with children, attending safeguarding training would be necessary

Please note: This activity takes place in a church. There will be prayers and/or Christian conversations, but you and other volunteers would not be expected to participate. Being sympathetic towards the Christian values of these activities would be necessary, but it is not required that volunteers are Christians themselves.
