Why volunteer with St Peter’s?
St Peter’s Hospice is a local charity which provides care and support for those living with life-limiting illnesses, and their families, in the Bristol, South Gloucestershire, and North Somerset area. We care for people both at the Hospice and out in the community, in particular in people’s own homes.
What do we need?
Our Marketing and Comms team are responsible for communicating Hospice messaging to the public, driving people into our 45 charity shops in Bristol, and signing people up to fundraising events. They are gatekeepers of the Hospice brand and tone of voice, and work across social media, website, email, print, and external advertising campaigns. They also manage our relationship with the press, overseeing both proactive and reactive PR opportunities.
The Marketing and Comms team are looking for someone to come on board as a TikTok volunteer, to help them manage Hospice presence on TikTok. Currently, due to time and resource restrictions, the Hospice is not active on TikTok. We need someone to come on board as a content creator, building up our bank of content, and assisting the Marketing and Comms team with scheduling and posting.
What will my role include?
- Working closely with our team of Marketing Execs to understand the types of content needed and when
- Working with the Marketing Execs to create content from across the different Hospice areas including shops, fundraising events, and the Hospice itself
- Creating and editing a bank of TikTok content within the platform for future use
- Creating a TikTok content calendar in line with our broader comms schedule
- Engaging with followers, monitoring conversations that involve us, and interacting with tags and mentions. All from the Hospice’s brand voice
- Identifying relevant influencers to engage with
- Ensuring posts are available to be shared as reels on Instagram
- Helping us to keep on top of emerging social media trends
What’s needed from me?
- A strong interest in social media
- Knowledge and experience of using social media either personally or professionally
- A desire to gain social media skills on a professional level
- Knowledge of TikTok, including how to set up an account, how to create a post and how to stay up to date with the latest trends
- The ability to visit the different Hospice areas, whether that’s shops, events, or the Hospice itself, to gather content
- The ability to create content that represents the Hospice and the work we do
- Creativity, and the ability to come up with new ideas
- An interest in working in marketing, and the non-profit sector
How much time do I need to commit?
We would ideally be looking for 2-3 hours per week to give you enough time to gather content and work on the posts. The role can be flexible around your other commitments, and you can work on the posts from anywhere. We would love to have you in the office from time to time so that you can feel part of the organisation, and get to know the Marketing and Comms team.
What are the benefits of volunteering with St Peter’s Hospice?
There are plenty of benefits to volunteering with us, including:
- Experience of working both independently and as part of a busy comms team
- Experience of working for a well-known local charity with a strong brand, and connection with its community
- Solid comms and marketing experience to add to your CV
- Knowing that the time you give directly helps the Hospice’s ability to care for patient’s and their loved ones at the most difficult of times
How do I get started?
Email zoe.iliffe@stpetershospice.org with a cover letter outlining why you’re applying for the role. This role does not require any previous experience in social media professionally, however if you do have some, we’d love to hear about it.
