Are you looking to make a positive impact in your local community? St Barnabas in Knowle West is looking for volunteers to assist with the operation of their inclusive and friendly Warm Welcome Space. By serving refreshments, lending a friendly ear, and helping to run fun, social activities, you will be helping those who attend to feel welcome and connect with others. No prior experience is required, but a friendly attitude and passion for community action is essential.
Weekly hours: Thursday 9:30am to 1:30pm
Location: St Barnabas Knowle West, Daventry Road Knowle West Bristol, BS4 1DQ
What you’ll be doing – there is a choice of some or all of those listed below

Preparing and serving food and drinks to attendees

Providing a warm welcome and engaging in friendly conversations

Assisting with setting up activities including crafts and puzzles

There is also the opportunity to bring a craft to teach if you would like to offer this on occasion- this can be discussed during the volunteer interview
Skills we’re looking for

An empathic and approachable attitude to create a welcoming space

A willingness to attend safeguarding and food hygiene training (where required)

An interest in supporting and engaging with those who attend

Please note: At 11am a prayer service is conducted for 20 minutes. Everyone is welcome to join in but there is no expectation on behalf of attendees or volunteers. Being sympathetic towards the Christian values of these activities would be necessary, but it is not required that volunteers are Christians themselves.
