Position Description: The Bristol Jazz Festival, a charitable organisation dedicated to producing an annual festival, year-round concerts, and educational activities for young people, is seeking a volunteer bookkeeper. This position will require approximately 2 days per month throughout most of the year, with additional days required around the time of the festival. The volunteer will be responsible for maintaining financial records, preparing profit and loss reports, cash flow forecasts, and other related tasks.

  

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for the Bristol Jazz Festival.
  • Create cash flow forecasts to help the organisation plan and manage its financial resources effectively.
  • Collaborate with the festival team to ensure accurate recording of income and expenses.
  • Assist in budget preparation and monitor financial activities to ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures.
  • Help with financial reporting and analysis as needed.
  • Work with fund raising and grant application teams to integrate their work into financial models and cash flow forecasts.
  • Ensure compliance with company and charity financial control requirements.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of bookkeeping and/or accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in using accounting software and spreadsheet applications.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping..
  • Flexibility to dedicate additional days around the festival period.

NB Prior experience in the arts or not for profit sector is not required.
