Do you love food, hate waste and want to make a difference to the community?
Then we need you!
We are looking for volunteers to help us prep and cook delicious, healthy soup using surplus food. Whether you're a trained chef or new to cooking, we welcome everyone over 18.
What to expect
- We are a small, friendly group who meet Mondays evenings from 6.30-9pm at Lockleaze Sports Centre. As well as cooking soup you will be helping to peel, chop, bag and store vegetable donations and sort and clean our resuable plastic storage tubs which we serve our soup in.
- We make 24-30 litres of soup per week (Around 60-70 portions) which is distributed to Lockleaze Sports Centre, The Vench and The Hub to be served as part of the Warm and Welcome spaces campain supporting people coping with the fuel crisis.
- There will be music, hot drinks, snacks and a welcoming and friendly atmosphere each week. We support and respect all of our volunteers and are an inclusive and accepting organisation.
- One of our cooking leads will give you an induction on arrival.
If you attend 3 x cooking sessions and can commit to attending more we can provide you with a L2 Food Hygeine Certificate.
You can volunteer as often as you would like but we *really* appreciate if you can let us know if you aren't able to attend, volunteer attendance affects our ability to run session.
If you already have experience cooking or have a Food Hygeine certificate, please let us know in advance.
