Are you interested in gaining valuable experience within the criminal justice sector while developing research, administration and resource development skills?
As a Research Volunteer, you'll help people across our contract (either remotely or in person) access opportunities that support their education, employment, personal development and future aspirations. By researching services, training and career pathways, you'll create practical resources that empower participants to make informed choices and take positive steps forward.
This role is ideal for anyone considering a future career in criminal justice, probation, rehabilitation, education, social care, careers guidance, research or the voluntary sector.
Volunteers in this role will also undergo HMPPS Enhanced Level 1 Vetting – a recognised level of clearance that demonstrates professionalism, trustworthiness and the ability to work within a secure environment, making it a valuable addition to your CV.
What You'll Be Doing
- Research local services, support organisations and opportunities across our contract locations.
- Create engaging information packs tailored to participant needs and interests.
- At times you may identify local and national job vacancies, recruitment opportunities and job boards.
- Research education, training and accreditation opportunities.
- Gather information on course content, eligibility requirements, costs and funding options.
- Develop practical guides and resources to help participants navigate opportunities.
- Create process maps, flowcharts and step-by-step guides that simplify pathways.
- Support the development and maintenance of an up-to-date resource library.
- Present information in a clear, accessible and participant-friendly format.

Time commitment:
We ask that volunteers share at least 2 hours a week with us.
