Are you looking to gain practical experience within the criminal justice sector while developing valuable skills in facilitation, engagement and group support?
As an Activities & Engagement Volunteer, you'll help create welcoming, engaging and inclusive sessions that encourage participants to build confidence, develop skills and connect with others. You'll work alongside staff to support activities within our Hub and contribute ideas that make sessions enjoyable, meaningful and impactful.
This role is ideal for anyone interested in careers within criminal justice, probation, rehabilitation, social care, youth and community work, psychology, education or the voluntary sector.
Volunteers in this role will undergo HMPPS Enhanced Level 1 Vetting, demonstrating their ability to work within a professional and secure environment. This recognised vetting can be a valuable addition to your CV and future career applications.
What You'll Be Doing
- Support the delivery of activities, workshops and group sessions within the Hub.
- Welcome and engage with participants, helping to create a positive and inclusive environment.
- Build meaningful and supportive relationships with participants.
- Encourage participation and help individuals feel confident joining activities.
- Work with staff and volunteers to plan engaging sessions and events.
- Introduce new ideas, games, activities and icebreakers to keep sessions fresh and engaging.
- Organise and deliver quizzes, group exercises and wellbeing activities.
- Support participants to engage in a holistic way, recognising their strengths, interests and aspirations.
- Gather participant feedback through simple questionnaires and feedback forms.
- Assist in setting up and tidying away activities and resources.
- Promote upcoming opportunities, activities and events.
- Support participants with information and signposting where appropriate.
