Milestones Trust is a health and social care charity which supports people with learning disabilities and mental health needs.  The services are provided through a network of residential and nursing care homes and community services throughout the Bristol and South Gloucestershire areas.

All of the residents at our home in Longwell Green like to visit the local café or pub and we are looking for volunteers to go with individuals and be a new, friendly person from the community to get to know.  Staff will come along too if needed, especially in the beginning.

The role will involve:

  • Supporting residents to walk to the pub or cafe.
  • Encouraging social interaction.
  • Supporting with ordering and collecting food and drinks.
  • Chatting with residents.

We are looking for a volunteer who:

  • Is patient, confident and friendly.
  • Has good communication and social skills.
  • Would like to meet new people and support people with additional health needs to access their local community.

The role would be an hour or two, as often as suits your schedule and the day can be flexible to suit you.

Please get in touch if you are interested, it would be great to hear from you.

Due to the nature of the role a DBS check will be carried out and references sought. We also ask volunteers to attend a half day induction, and any other training which would be helpful in role. We provide travel expenses for all volunteers.

For more information or to request an application form please email the Milestones Volunteer team on volunteering@milestonestrust.org.uk or call 0117 9709356.

Please note, although this is a pub trip role, neither staff or volunteers are allowed to drink alcohol.
