Job Title: Listening Hub Manager
Reports to: Services Manager/CEO

Job Type: Part-time Volunteer
We’re looking for a warm, organised, and supportive individual to help manage our brand-
new Listening Hub in the heart of Bristol. This volunteer role is ideal for someone who wants
to make a meaningful difference in their community while developing their leadership and
coordination skills.
The Listening Hub Manager will help make sure our space is welcoming and well-run,
supporting a team of dedicated volunteers who offer emotional support and a listening ear to
anyone in need. While most of the role can be carried out remotely, we ask that the Manager
is available for at least one in-person shift per week to stay connected to the team and space.
You don’t need to have a formal background in management, just the confidence to lead a
team, a passion for mental health support, and a proactive, caring approach.
What You’ll Be Doing
Supporting Day-to-Day Operations- Help coordinate the smooth running of the Listening Hub, both remotely and in
person. - Work with the Hub Volunteer Manager to make sure shifts are covered and the rota is
up to date. - Ensure the space is clean, safe, and welcoming with the support of the volunteer team.
Volunteer Team Support - Get to know the volunteer team, helping them feel valued, supported, and equipped.
- Support with volunteer recruitment, onboarding (don’t worry, we’ll support you too!).
Community Care & Presence - Help ensure that visitors to the hub feel welcome and listened to.
- Help promote the Listening Hub to local groups and services, so more people know
we’re here.
Keeping Things on Track - Keep an eye on how things are going in the hub and share feedback and ideas with the
leadership team. - Help volunteers complete brief records of their sessions and contribute to light
reporting (we’ll guide you on how). - Support the charity in making sure we’re delivering safe, ethical and compassionate
support.
What We’re Looking For
You don’t need to tick every box, but we’re hoping you’ll bring:
- Some experience (personal, voluntary, or professional) in mental health support, care,
or community work - Confidence leading or coordinating a small team, or a willingness to learn
- Good communication and a calm, compassionate approach
- A strong sense of empathy, and the ability to support others while looking after
yourself too - Organisational skills and reliability, helping things run smoothly is a big part of the
role
It would be great (but not essential) if you also have:
Experience working with or supporting volunteers
Familiarity with safeguarding practices or community wellbeing initiatives
