Expressions is a year-long program of art groups and creative events. The focus has always been to make the arts accessible, interactive and a source of wellbeing. They run an art therapy group for the people we support every week on Tuesday and Wednesday morning at their studio, located at the Milestones head office in Staple Hill.

Can you help?

We are looking for volunteers who have a keen interest in engaging with art, enjoy interacting with the people we support (who all have varying additional needs), are patient and who have a positive and helpful attitude. You can help out with the sessions in the following ways :

  • Someone who is a practicing artist or who has a creative background to occasionally lead sessions and workshops
  • Specific skills such as crochet, knitting, printmaking etc to share with small groups or individuals who attend the groups
  • Support some of our attendees to engage with the sessions and activities
  • 1:1 support to help some of our attendee’s travel to and from the sessions, and staying at the session with them

Ideally this would be a weekly or fortnightly role from 10am – 1pm on a Tuesday or Wednesday. Travel expenses are covered for each volunteering shift and you will have access to free refreshments throughout the session.

For all our volunteer roles a DBS check will be carried out and we will request two references. All volunteers can attend an in-person volunteer induction, and we offer online training alongside this. You will be supported by both the volunteer team and a designated member of staff in the service too.

You can apply for this role several ways :

  • Apply online
  • Fill out a word application form (standard or easy read) - please email us for a copy of this.
  • Give us a ring and we can take down your details.
