Location: Page Community Hall, Staple Hill
Time Commitment: Ideally weekly on Tuesdays. Volunteers can support either the morning session (9:30am to 12:30pm), afternoon session (1:00pm to 4:00pm), or a full day. The community space is open from 9:00am to 5:00pm.
About the Role
We're looking for enthusiastic and supportive volunteers to join our creative arts sessions and help inspire adults with learning disabilities and mental health needs. As a Creative Support Volunteer, you'll play an important role in encouraging artistic expression, building confidence, and helping people engage with a wide range of creative activities.
Each week, participants explore different artistic techniques while also developing their own individual projects. Your support will help ensure everyone feels welcomed, included, and encouraged to express themselves creatively.
What you'll be doing:
- Supporting and encouraging artists during creative sessions
- Assisting participants with arts and crafts activities on a one-to-one basis or within small groups
- Helping people explore new creative techniques and activities each week
- Supporting individuals as they develop their own artistic projects and creative skills
- Assisting with setting up before sessions and tidying away afterwards
- Helping to create a welcoming environment, including making teas and coffees for participants
What we're looking for:
- An interest in art, crafts, and creativity
- A patient, kind, and encouraging approach
- A good sense of humour and the ability to build positive relationships
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- A willingness to support people of different abilities and backgrounds
- Reliability and enthusiasm for making a positive difference
This is a rewarding opportunity to be part of a vibrant creative community while helping people develop their artistic skills, confidence, and independence. Whether you're an artist, crafter, student, or simply someone who enjoys supporting others, we'd love to hear from you.
As with all our volunteer roles, a DBS check will be required, and we will request two references. Volunteers will also need to complete our online or in-person training before starting their role. Ongoing support will be available from both the volunteer team and a designated member of staff within the service.
Support Provided
- A warm welcome and introduction to the creative arts programme
- Ongoing support from the Community Art Project team
- Guidance and training relevant to the role
- Opportunities to develop new skills and gain experience supporting creative activities
