Milestones Trust is a health and social care charity supporting people with learning disabilities, mental health needs and dementia. The Trust provides residential, nursing and community support services to around 750 people living in the Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset areas.
Two women that we support in one of our residential homes in Brislington are looking for volunteers to help as befrienders, supporting with reading stories, talking and sitting together in the home and garden. They love to chat with staff but sadly staff don’t have enough time to chat as much as the women would like!
Can you help?
We are looking for volunteers who are compassionate and patient with good social skills. Ideally this would be a weekly volunteer role, or as often as volunteers are able to commit. We are ideally looking for volunteers to support the two women on an individual basis, staff will support volunteers to get to know the individuals and how to best support them.
We can cover travel and some activity expenses.
Please note, for all of our volunteer roles a DBS check will be carried out and references will be taken up. All volunteers have a volunteer induction before starting in role and are supported by both the volunteer team and a member of staff in the service too.
Please get in touch if you are interested or would like further information, we would love to hear from you.
