About the Role
We’re looking for a skilled and enthusiastic Ceramics Kiln Operator to help bring creative projects to life. You’ll support the launch of a new ceramics group for adults with learning disabilities and mental health needs, helping turn their handmade pieces into finished works of art.
What you’ll be doing:
- Operating and managing the kiln safely and effectively
- Supporting the firing of ceramic pieces created in group sessions
- Helping set up and maintain a small ceramics programme
- Encouraging and supporting participants in a welcoming, inclusive environment
What we’re looking for:
- Experience and confidence using a ceramics kiln
- Knowledge of ceramics processes and safety
- A patient, friendly approach and confidence working with adults with learning disabilities and mental health needs

Milestones Trust is a health and social care charity supporting people with learning disabilities, mental health needs and complex behavioural needs. The Trust provides residential, nursing and supported living services to over 500 people living in Bristol, South Gloucestershire, North Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire.
As with all our volunteer roles, a DBS check will be required, and we will request two references. Volunteers will also need to complete our online or in-person training before starting their role. Ongoing support will be available from both the volunteer team and a designated member of staff within the service.
