Milestones Trust is a health and social care charity which supports people with learning disabilities and mental health needs.  The services are provided through a network of residential and nursing care homes and community services throughout the Bristol and South Gloucestershire areas.

Calling all baking enthusiasts! We are looking for volunteers who have a passion for baking to come and support people living in their homes to bake cakes and biscuits. Each baking session would be supporting a maximum of two to three residents at a time and staff will always be on hand to support.

Can you help?

We are looking for volunteers who are compassionate and patient, with good communication skills. Ideally this would be a weekly or fortnightly volunteer role, or as often as volunteers are able to commit. We have a few homes who are interested in baking buddies across Bristol – please let us know your preferred location and we can match you with a home. Current locations include Staple Hill, Kingswood, Horfield and Henleaze.

We provide a thorough induction, further training if needed and we support volunteers throughout their role. For this role, you are required to complete a Food Hygiene e-learning course that should take about an hour.

The role will involve:

  • Helping the people we support to choose recipes
  • Helping people to bake treats that they have chosen
  • Looking at recipe books together and choosing what to bake next time
  • Liaising with the staff to purchase any ingredients needed
  • Enjoying fresh, homemade baked goods!

We can cover travel expenses and all ingredients will be reimbursed either by the people we support or the home.

Please note, for all of our volunteer roles a DBS check will be carried out and references will be taken up. All volunteers have a volunteer induction before starting the role and will be supported by both the volunteer team and a member of staff in the service too.

Please get in touch if you are interested in applying or would like further information on the role, we would love to hear from you.
