Milestones Trust is a health and social care charity which supports people with learning disabilities and mental health needs. The services are provided through a network of residential and nursing care homes and community services throughout the Bristol and South Gloucestershire areas.
Calling all baking enthusiasts! Six of the residents at our home for adults with learning disabilities in Longwell Green love baking. We are looking for volunteers who also have a passion for baking to come and support people to bake cakes and biscuits on a weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis. Each baking session would be supporting a maximum of two residents at a time and staff will always be on hand to support.
The role will involve:
- Helping the people we support to choose recipes
- Helping people to bake sweet treats that they have chosen
- Looking at recipe books together and choosing what to bake next time
- Enjoying homemade, fresh cakes and biscuits!
We are looking for a volunteer who:
- Loves baking and has some simple baking skills.
- Has good communication and social skills.
- Is patient and kind.
- Would like to meet new people and support people with additional health needs to do something that they love.
The role would be for two to three hours each time, as often as suits your schedule and the day can be flexible to suit you.
Please get in touch if you are interested, it would be great to hear from you.
Due to the nature of the role a DBS check will be carried out and references sought. We also ask volunteers to attend a half day induction, and any other training which would be helpful in role. We provide travel expenses for all volunteers and if you buy baking ingredients you will always be reimbursed.
