This role involves assisting clients with welfare benefit form applications at weekly appointments.

Volunteers play a very big part in supporting and delivering the service we provide to our clients here at North Bristol Advice Centre. We are looking to recruit Advice Support Volunteers to assist our clients with welfare benefit form applications at weekly appointments. This is an excellent opportunity to gain first-hand experience of interviewing clients, completing legal forms and working in a busy office environment with a team of dedicated professionals. You will need to have strong interpersonal and analytical skills as well as an ability to empathize with vulnerable people.

  • We are particularly keen to recruit volunteers with additional languages to support clients.

What does the role involve?

  • Assist clients to complete disability benefit forms
  • Act as an advocate for individual clients, where necessary
  • Follow up with clients to report on application outcomes
  • Keep accurate, confidential case records
  • Attend all induction training sessions and ongoing training as required
  • Attend regular supervision meetings

Time Commitment

  • One half day a week, flexible times
  • 9 month commitment
