Milestones Trust is a health and social care charity supporting people with learning disabilities, mental health needs and dementia. The Trust provides residential, nursing and community support services to around 750 people living in the Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset areas.
One of our supported living homes for adults with learning disabilities in Fishponds is looking for a volunteer to help a person we support access the community. The individual likes going to pubs, cafés and the local library. They would also enjoy trips out to museums, zoos, the hippodrome and to look at steam trains. The role would be ideal for someone who shares the same interests and has the ability to drive for longer day trips.
Can you help?
We are looking for volunteers who are compassionate and patient with good social skills. Ideally this would be a weekly, fortnightly or monthly volunteer role, or as often as volunteers are able to commit. We provide a thorough induction, and support to volunteers throughout their role, however, a knowledge of mental health issues would be advantageous.
We can cover travel and some activity expenses. Please note, although this role may include going to the pub, neither staff or volunteers are allowed to drink alcohol.
Please note, for all of our volunteer roles a DBS check will be carried out and references will be taken up. All volunteers have a volunteer induction before starting in role and are supported by both the volunteer team and a member of staff in the service too.
Please get in touch with the volunteer coordinator directly to express your interest in this role :
