What is People Power?

People Power are a collective of community minded people who are doing things in their community and want to share their experiences, new ideas, and offer mutual support and solidarity.

The group, supported by the Community Development team, connect in local spaces, hold conversations, and host events to bring people together to share experiences, learn from each other and inspire social action. This has fostered connection through having important conversations around issues that matter, with the aim to create a city-wide network of people and igniting future collective action.

The People Power Project

The People Power Project is about highlighting and sharing stories that are often unheard, to inspire individuals and communities to take social action.

Held in City Hall, the event welcomed people from across the city to celebrate and participate in a day of activities focused on the theme of power and social action. This included watching films and reading stories with themes including the environment, lived expertise, sport, disability, mental health, and young people. These were made and told by local people in collaboration with the Community Development team.

Please watch all the short films here on youtube.
