About
Business Support Officer bristol city council
I have over 11 years of experience working within local authority services in Bristol, with a strong background in supporting vulnerable communities. For 8 years, I worked in Children’s Services, providing vital support to some of the most vulnerable children in the city. My role included assisting social workers with casework, carrying out face-to-face sessions, handling written and phone communications, preparing court documents, and creating chronologies and genograms. I also managed financial aspects where required. A particularly meaningful part of my work was supporting unaccompanied asylum-seeking boys — accompanying them to appointments, teaching conversational English, and helping them develop essential life skills such as cooking. Alongside this, I have broad experience across local authority services, including roles in anti-social behaviour, hate crime, domestic abuse, and most recently, the planning department. This has given me a well-rounded understanding of complex social issues and strengthened my ability to work with a wide range of people in challenging situations. I am passionate about making a difference, highly adaptable, and committed to supporting both individuals and wider communities with empathy, professionalism, and resilience.
