What we do
We provide free menstrual products to anyone who needs them by making them available through distribution centres such as community centres and libraries across Bristol.
Our vision is to eradicate period poverty and to be a city of period dignity, in which nobody is held back in life or stigmatised against simply for having a period.
Why?
Bristol has the third highest rate of period poverty across England, Scotland, and Wales: More than two in five women/girls in Bristol (41.2%) have been affected by an inability to afford menstrual products, this is significantly more than the national average of 27%.
Are you interested in contributing towards the eradication of period poverty?
Period Friendly Places is almost entirely run by volunteers, who help contribute to our mission to eradicate period poverty.
Supplying period products is the core of what we do. We need volunteers to supply venues around Bristol with period products. This involves collecting the products from our storage and driving or cycling to venues to drop them off.
We are also looking for volunteers to help with fundraising, marketing, finance, bookkeeping, communication and admin.
Check out our website's volunteering page for more about the opportunities we have to get involved in.
If you would like to get involved contact us through periodfriendlyplaces@gmail.com or contact Tara on 07531 649 150.
