The Severnside Community Rail Partnership is a Department for Transport Accredited Community Rail Partnership. We work to develop the role communities play in their local railway, and the role the rail industry has in supporting has in supporting communities. Severnside is one of around seventy Community Rail Partnerships across Britain.
Established in 2006 as Community Interest (not for profit) Company, we work with local communities to encourage the use of local trains on routes radiating from Bristol, to ensure that access to local stations is easy, and to enhance these stations so they provide a safe and welcoming environment. Our station improvement projects are delivered with the assistance of volunteers, schools, youth groups and the Community Payback scheme. We also host a range of events and educational activities to encourage sustainable, healthy travel.
Our principal partners and funders are Bath and North East Somerset Council, Bristol City Council, North Somerset Council, Somerset Council, South Gloucestershire Council, Great Western Railway and CrossCountry Trains. Network Rail and The British Transport Police also support the work of the Partnership.
We are members of The Community Rail Network the umbrella organisation supporting Community Rail Partnerships and volunteer station support groups
