Play Wooden, a Bristol-based social enterprise that design and makes bespoke wooden games and basic furniture that we sell also online. Our wooden games are alternative learning tools and entertainment service.

ALTERNATIVE PROVISION We support children and young people struggling with formal schooling, including those at risk of exclusion, NEET and learning disability. Through play activities and DIY making activities that foster social skills, team spirit, problem solving, boundaries perception, aiding them in navigating challenging behaviours and transitions while developing emotional intelligence, resilience, and lateral thinking. pathway to youth entrepreneurship and leadership through play

 

MENTOR TRAINING PROGRAMME Our two-stage training programme provides tools for education professionals and mentors to better engage with children and young people (CYP) who exhibit challenging behaviours. Through play activities with Play Wooden games, the education professional and mentor can enrich their practice and create a more inclusive and nurturing environment. CYP with will be able to use the activities as a means of communication, self-expression and problem-solving. Activities support the navigation of challenging behaviours and transitional moments by promoting emotional intelligence, resilience and lateral thinking in CYP

COMMUNITY - FESTIVAL - FUNDRAISING EVENTS We offer a new way of creating a temporary, intriguing spaces for people through the display of a Bio Play space, especially for families and people of all ages to have a lot fun and happy celebration. We have successfully supported and spark joy in more than 6 thousand people at community events, festivals and fundraising event in the last 4 years.

PLAY GROUPS We engage with Bristol wide community with “Little Spark Playgroup” a holistic play environment designed for SEND children and facilitated by a team of professional play therapist, Senior playworker and volunteers. We also run-on monthly basis Saturday family play day with climate change theme.

CARE HOME - INTERGENERATIONAL ENGAGEMENT We provide holistic activities for people in elderly care settings to use our wooden games puzzles to stimulate their minds and help them maintain their cognitive function and memory. Studies have shown that there are many benefits for older people in completing puzzles, including reducing stress, maintaining cognitive ability and keeping problem solving skills sharp. It provides them a range of wooden games which gives opportunity to socialise with others, including the young playworkers which helps to reduce loneliness and isolation.
