I'm an American. My husband and I came here in 2018 when he was acepted at Uni into the Graduate program in History. He is now working on is PhD in History, and I'm here ona dependents visa so I am prohibited from working. Thus I spend my time researching in archives and libaries, or did before I started avoideing public places in January of 2020. Now all my research is on-line.
We came here from Portland, Oregon which is earthquake country, so I also have taken Citizen Emergency Response Team (CERT) training and have some practive in reasonable and sensible disaster preparedness. At one time I also took Red Cross training which included a Logistics, and a Sheltering course but that was 10 years ago and I don't have certification in it.
I have writing, research & information collection, and pattern recognition skills. I can use Word, Excell and Google docs really well and can learn anything else quickly. I am learning to use GEPHI which is a visualization tool for social networks. I have also run phone trees back in the day, before mobile phones :)
I am a writer working on two books, and can write in any format about just about anything for any audience. One of my projects is a book which is a curated collection of letters my mother's fiance wrote home from France during WWII. The other is an historical novel set in the late 18th century in the Ohio River Vallery and based on a captivity narrative we have in my mother's family. This project is what I'm learning to use GEPHI for. In the past I have also done paralegal work, and for a short time held a provision private investigators license in Oregon. Before that I was a US Air Force Wing Weather Officer and forecast meteorologist in the mid 1980's.
We are self-isolating because I had pneumonia back in 1996 and it left me with a bit of mild and controlled asthma, and my husband has lost nearly 9.5 stone in the last two years, but still has mild but conrolled high blood pressure.
I am willing to help in any way I can from home. We are acutely aware we are guests in your country and are taking all possible stay-at-home measures to be good guests and to be sure we do not take meidcal resources way from Bristolians who are going to need them and rightly should have priority for them.
