IntoUniversity is an educational organisation aimed at increasing opportunities and raising aspirations for young people in the local community. We are seeking Educational Youth Volunteers to support primary and secondary students during our after-school sessions.

Our after-school Academic Support Programme provides free support to young people in a stimulating classroom environment. At secondary age, young people receive tailored help with homework, coursework and provide a variety of exciting extra-curricular projects to develop transferable skills. At primary age, we deliver an exciting and interactive curriculum that allows students to engage with new topics whilst also developing their literacy and numeracy skills. Topics have included Ancient Civilizations, Astronomy, Chemistry and Photography.

As a Youth Volunteer, your role would be to support our staff to deliver these sessions by engaging with our young people and supporting them with their academic work, helping them to manage a project of their choice or working on some literacy or numeracy tasks on the current topic. Volunteers act as role models and provide inspiration and encouragement to young people for whom university education is not always a common expectation.

Volunteers are invited to indicate a preference for supporting a particular age group. Our sessions are separated into primary (age 7-10) and secondary (age 11+). Please note that all of our volunteering appointments are subject to an enhanced DBS check and suitable references.

Our tutors must meet the following requirements:

- Minimum Grade C in English and Maths GCSE

- Enthusiasm for education

- Interpersonal skills

- Ability to act on initiative

- Patience
