An After-School Bikes volunteer is:
- Excited to empower young people
- Enthusiastic about being part of a diverse team and working with people from different backgrounds than their own
- Committed to our Safer Space Commitment
- Practical, patient and calm in a very busy environment
- Has some knowledge of bike mechanics or is willing to learn - no experience necessary if you're up for learning
Working relationships: You will work as part of a team, supported by two After-school Bikes Coordinators and the Volunteer & Member Coordinator.
Time Commitment: Fridays 2.30 - 6
Specific Duties and responsibilities:
- Welcoming and building a relationship with young people, working with them in a way that engages their interest in fixing and maintaining their bike
- Tidying and general housekeeping in the Community Workshop
- Following Bristol Bike Project policies and procedures when volunteering. These are available in the Volunteer Handbook on the website
- More specific responsibilities to be agreed depeneding on your skills and wishes
We will get you a DBS check if you don’t already have one on the update system.
