About Us
The Free Talk Intervention C.I.C provides a safe, warm and welcoming space for vulnerable people who are:
homeless
have mental health challenges
ex-offenders
lonely
and/or living with substance addiction challenges.
We offer advocacy, advice and support for individuals through a trauma-informed approach.
We offer a space where people within the community can relax, explore hobbies, chat, use the internet and computer services, use telephone services to make appointments and access advice and assistance.
We offer access to counselling where possible and embed mindset changes into all of our activities.
We have a commitment to making a positive impact on both the individual and nurturing a supportive and inclusive community. We strive to be without judgement, to be friendly, and to focus on harm reduction.
Who we're looking for
We are looking for volunteers who can:
- Make tea and coffee
- Make toast and porridge and distribute other food where applicable
- Host 1:1 conversations to assess needs
- Contact various services as an advocate and keep records of conversations
- Be companiable and supportive
- We hope to host workshops in the future (this will depend on your individual skillset but could be art and crafts or similar).
Full training will be provided.
Additionally
We regularly collect food from Sainsbury’s, Aldi, Lidl and Pret and if you have access to a means to collect this we will rota this responsibility.
