Cerebral Palsy Plus is a charity that supoorts adults and children with Cerebral palsy in Bristol and the surrounding areas. We support our members to achieve their goals as well as create opportunities for connection, fun and personal development. So, when one of our members said she’d love to learn to cook with the hopes of becoming a chef, we decided to help make that dream happen!
We teamed up with Sarah and Clare, who are Travelling Kitchen. A social enterprise whose goal is to promote a better awareness of the food we eat and to teach essential cooking skills in an accessible way. We also found Portishead Youth Community Centre, a welcoming space with a purpose-built accessible kitchen and dining room who were happy to host us.
The classes have been running for over a year now and have kept increasing in popularity, therefore we need to increase our volunteer team! We try to run a class every 2 months and will give you as much notice as possible about when the next one will take place. Classes are at the Portishead Youth Community Centre and are usually on either a Friday or Saturday. Volunteers will need to be there from 9:15 - 2:00pm. The next class is on the 13th June.
