Meadow Vale Community Centre has just started a Community Lunch Club for over 55s on the last Thursday of the month from 12.30 - 2pm. Our guests can come and enjoy home cooked food and meet others in the community.
We are looking for friendly and enthusiastic volunteers to help us deliver the lunch club which serves up to 25 people a session and helps combat social isolation.
There are two options for the volunteer roles:
Front of House Volunteers - 11am - 2.45pm
Tasks include:
- Helping to set up the space including moving chairs and tables
- Making attendees feel welcome
- Serving and clearing away meals
- Helping to wash up, clean and pack away
Cooking and food preparaton volunteers - 10am - 12.30pm
Tasks include:
- Prepping food for the meal
- Cooking a set meal for up to 25 people
- Helping to keep the kitchen clean and tidy
All volunteers will have a free lunch and the chance to socialise and meet others.
You will be:
- Friendly with good people skills to make our community feel welcome
- Enthusiastic and enjoy working as part of a small team
- Comfortable working in a busy environment
- Comfortable being active and on your feet
- For the food cooking and prep volunteers an enjoyment of food and cooking is a must. Some experience of kitchens and a food hygiene certificate would be beneficial but not essential as training for the certificate can be provided.
