Intro
Learning By Heart is an initiative with 2 principal goals: to provide children and adults in the UK with accessible educational support, while in turn helping to widen access to education for young people across the world.
We provide online classes in a wide range of subjects, run by volunteer tutors, in exchange for pay-as-you-feel donations to educational charities. Classes are delivered remotely using videoconferencing platforms, so we are able to reach pupils all over the country. Currently, our proceeds are donated to The Literacy Hubs, whose incredible work enables young people to develop the literacy skills they need to thrive. They provide unique, adventurous learning environments to promote a love for reading and writing amongst disadvantaged communities.
Role description
Tutors who join Learning by Heart will be expected to tutor one or more pupils for a minimum of one hour per week in one of their chosen subjects. Tutors will be responsible for helping pupils learn and understand new concepts brought to them in the classroom, discuss feedback from teachers and suggest improvements based on this, prepare for examinations, and ultimately, work with students and parents to assist students in gaining a better understanding of the relevant content for the agreed subject.
All tutors commit to following Learning By Heart’s Safeguarding Policy and Procedures, and are expected to provide a safe and supportive tutoring environment for their pupils.
