The Get Growing Garden Trail is a celebration of Bristol’s edible gardens, taking place this year over the weekend of 20 & 21 September 2025. As well as welcoming the public into these beautiful growing spaces, we want to better understand the impact of the Trail – and that’s where you come in.
We're looking for Volunteer Surveyors to visit participating gardens over the weekend and gather simple feedback from visitors and growers. We’re also looking for people to help collate and analyse the survey data, feeding into our summary report and helping us shape future Trails.
What you’ll do:
Over the weekend:
- Visit one or more gardens across the city (a full list will be available soon on the Bristol Good Food website. For now, you can see the groups that have participated previously at bristolgoodfood.org/ggt)
- Talk to visitors and growers and invite them to fill out a short feedback survey (online or on paper)
- Optionally, help garden groups collect headcounts or other quick observational data
After the weekend:
- Help input paper responses into an online spreadsheet (if needed)
- Support basic analysis of survey results (for example, spotting themes, counting up totals, pulling out key quotes)
- Contribute to a short internal debrief or summary of key findings
Who we’re looking for:
- Friendly and approachable people who enjoy chatting to others
- Curious minds with an interest in community food growing, green spaces, or sustainable Bristol
- Anyone who’s happy to either be out and about over the weekend, or help behind the scenes afterwards – or ideally both!
- No qualifications needed – we’ll provide guidance and a short briefing
This is a great opportunity to get behind the scenes of one of Bristol’s most loved community events, gain experience in public engagement and grassroots research, and help build the case for better support of community food growing.
