Are you happy to volunteer using your own vehicle? Do you have a few hours a week to spare and enjoy meeting people? If you’re an active person looking for a flexible volunteer driver role then come and join our friendly team. Without Volunteer Stock Collection Drivers we can’t collect our generous donors’ items, and our shops won’t be able to beat heartbreak forever.

We need help now more than ever to collect donated items from our supporters when they are unable to bring them into our shop themselves. You will need to be physically fit and active for this driver role due to the lifting and carrying of donation bags in and out of the vehicle.

It will be your responsibility to ensure that you have a full, valid driving licence and that your vehicle is correctly insured for carrying out collections of BHF donations – don’t worry, we can help you with this. You’ll use your own vehicle and travel will be reimbursed at the HMRC rate (currently 45p per mile).

Say hello to the team:

Funding for researchers begins at your local charity shop. Now, more than ever, we are in urgent need of volunteers to enable us to continue our life saving research and help the 7.6 million people in the UK living with heart and circulatory diseases. This wouldn’t be possible without our fantastic volunteers.

Our team is welcoming and friendly, and we love meeting people from all walks of life.

Typical tasks include:

  • Collecting stock/ donations from people’s houses, local businesses or our clothing banks and delivering them to your local shop
  • Transferring stock between shops on a local level as needs require
  • Following BHF guidelines on Covid-safe collections and personal safety

You get a lot from volunteering too:

  • The feel-good factor of giving back and being part of your local community
  • The time to develop your confidence and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to gain valuable experience to add to your CV and learn new skills
  • Flexibility to fit with your lifestyle – tell us when volunteering suits you
  • Support from your shop Manager in your role as part of a friendly team
  • 25% volunteer discount on donated goods

Please note - we are unable to accept volunteers aged under 16 and we cannot accept volunteers with unspent criminal convictions or who are subject to criminal registers/orders. This is an unpaid voluntary role with petrol costs reimbursed.

Here's a little bit more about us:

The BHF is here to Beat Heartbreak Forever. We are working towards a world free from the fear of heart and circulatory diseases. By 2030, we want to see advances across the spectrum of heart and circulatory diseases; to prevent these conditions from developing and we want those with existing conditions to have better, longer lives.
