Your Park run weekly Roots to Wellbeing groups in parks across Bristol and Bath for people with mental health issues, or those struggling with life's challenges. For many people, using public transport is just too much of a challenge at the moment or there isn't a suitable route for them to the park. Therefore, we are looking for one or more volunteer drivers who are either already MIDAS (Minibus Drivers Awareness Scheme) trained - or would be willing to do the training.
Our groups currently take place in:
Eastville Park - Wednesdays 1-3.30
Stockwood Open Space - Wednesdays 12.30 - 3
Hartcliffe Millenium Green - Thursdays 10.30 - 1
Hillfields Park - Fridays 10.30 - 1
Our drivers would need to be available to collect a minibus from the local hub and collect named passengers, bringing them to the park in time for the start. Ideally, the same driver would also be available to take passengers back home again at the end of the session.
You will need to be empathetic, caring and supportive. Some of our participants may be feeling anxious about meeting new people or sharing a minibus with strangers. Some may have mobility issues and need some help getting on and off the bus. You would be given any relevant information about passengers to help you support their needs.
