Summary
We are looking for volunteers to take part in our Community Voices project.
Our team of Volunteer Interviewers will each conduct and record an interview with a community member who they will be matched with.
Volunteer Interviewers will receive training on how to perform their role and will meet with their interviewee at least twice before they hold the interview.
Volunteers must identify as disabled or have a long-term health condition. This includes hidden disabilities, such as mental health and/or people with learning disabilities.
What will I be doing?
- Attending a minimum of 3 meetings with the Volunteer Interview team, including a reflective session at the end of the project.
- Attending training on Interview Techniques and Disability Equality Training.
- Organising and booking meetings.
- Meeting with your matched Community Member at least twice before holding the interview (online).
- Working with your matched Community Member to develop an interview topic.
- Developing questions to ask your matched Community Member.
- Holding and recording an interview online using Zoom.
- Booking a follow up interview if necessary.
We are looking for volunteers who:
- Are over 18.
- Identify as a disabled person.
- Are comfortable with having their interview recorded and shared (audio and visual).
- Are willing to attend training on Interview Techniques and Disability Equality.
- Are interested in hearing and sharing stories.
- Have good communication and listening skills or a willingness to learn how to improve these skills.
- A non-judgemental and respectful manner.
It will be helpful for volunteers to have access to a computer/tablet and the internet. If you do not, please still apply as we are committed to supporting people who are digitally excluded to be involved.
