Purpose of role

Demand for our service is higher than ever and as a Volunteer Helpline Supporter, responding to callers and signposting them to relevant areas of our website, you will be playing a part in helping ERIC to achieve its key goal of reaching even more families.

If you are passionate about helping to improve the lives of families whose children are affected by continence issues, and can commit your time on a regular basis, we’d love to hear from you.

This role can be done remotely and full training is provided.

To maintain consistency and a high standard of professional practice, volunteers should be able to commit to a regular pattern of one shift per week of 4-5 hours, for a minimum period of one year.

Tasks could include:

  • Responding to helpline enquiries in a friendly and professional way
  • Gathering background information sensitively & recording it on our IT system
  • Allocating cases to a trained advisor and arranging call-back appointments
  • Signposting callers to resources they can access on the ERIC website by email

Skills and qualities:

  • Able to listen carefully and respond to enquiries in a friendly, helpful way
  • Empathetic and non-judgmental
  • Enjoy working as part of a team
  • Friendly and positive with a can-do attitude
  • Well organised with good time management skills
