Barking Mad Bristol and Bath are looking for volunteers to host well behaved dogs in their homes while their owners are away.
Barking Mad has been helping dog owners for over 20 years with boarding services. Giving Customers the peace of mind they need to relax and enjoy their time away, knowing their pooch is being cared for by a fully vetted dog lover, jut like you! We are currently expanding and looking for more volunteer hosts to help care for holidaying dogs.
How does it work?
The dog(s) will come to stay in your home. We pick up the dog(s) from our customers and take them to stay in host family homes that are probably just like yours. The dogs obviously come in different shapes and sizes, you can decide the size or type of dog(s) that you wish to host – we will be happy to work around your preferences. We provide you with all the background information about the dogs that you will be looking after, so that you know what they are allowed to do and their likes/dislikes, as well as their food and exercise routine. The owners provide toys, food, bedding and treats so you have no outlay. Some customers have more than one dog – if you are happy to take more than one dog great! if not - no problem.We don’t pay our host families as such but provide an expenses payment (they may need to make the odd phone call) – this is usually around £5/6 per dog per night.
Requirements for hosting with us.
There are the few requirements for looking after Barking Mad dogs. Number one, you must be a big dog lover! Whether you grew up with dogs or have had dogs of your own, we are looking for people who have experince with dogs and who are comfortable with them, able to walk them, feed them, play with them. Number two, you must have a secure private garden/outside space that a visiting dog can use. Number three, you must be at home most, if not, all of the day. That's it!
