Purpose: To support adults with a learning disability, and/or autism, in a social situation to increase confidence and self - esteem, build independence and reduce social isolation.
Activities: We provide a range of activities which people can either choose to be involved in or simply attend and socialise with friends. Volunteers and staff are there to provide support where needed.
Examples of activities:
- To support individuals to access activities
- To help facilitate arts, craft, quizzes, bingo and other games and activities
- To encourage independence and social skills amongst members
- To assist in the provision of refreshments
Skills Required: Skills in listening and the ability to communicate well with diverse types of people are essential. Ability to be patient, enthusiastic and have a non-judgemental attitude. Experience of learning disability / autism not essential.
Hours and Timescale: One session at the drop-in either weekly or fortnightly, ideally for a minimum of six months
