The Role. A Supportive Parents Advocate is a valued role where you would act as a representative for the SENDIAS Service, based in Bristol, supporting areas of Bristol, North Somerset or South Glos. You will receive training and support to develop the knowledge and confidence to raise awareness of the range of services offered by SENDIASS and feedback information gathered to Local Coordinators.
The types of representation may include:
- Attending network meetings for professionals to explain the work of Supportive Parents SENDIAS Service and to raise the profile of parent’s, children’s or young person’s view points
- Promote Supportive Parents SENDIAS Service, by visiting schools and events. This may include visiting parent groups to explain the range of services offered, to listen and feedback parent’s views to Supportive Parents. You may alternatively act as a 16-25 Champion, meeting with groups of children or young people to tell them about opportunities open to them from engaging with our SEND IAS Service.
