Summary

We are recruiting a panel of volunteers who will support us to award micro grants to local community based organisations.

Volunteers must identify as disabled or have a long-term health condition. This includes hidden disabilities, such as mental health and/or people with learning disabilities.

Key responsibilities:

  • Attending training including Disability Equality, GDPR and any other training relevant to the role.
  • Attending online meetings (there will be a minimum of six hour long meetings over the course of the voluntary placement).
  • Keeping track of updates and reviewing circulated materials.
  • Reviewing applications to the WECIL VIP Micro Fund.
  • Supporting VIP Project Worker to shortlist and decide on the successful applicants.
  • Providing feedback to successful and unsuccessful applications (verbal and/or written).
  • Receive regular updates on projects via email or in meetings.
  • Supporting the VIP Project Worker to promote the Micro Fund to the Community.

No prior experience is needed for this role; however, we are looking for a volunteer who has:

  • Enthusiasm and a willingness to attend training.
  • An understanding or a willingness to learn about Disability Equality and the Social Model of Disability.
  • Ability to work in a team and make decisions as part of a team.
  • An interest in the charity sector and supporting grassroots organisations.
