Summary
We are recruiting a panel of volunteers who will support us to award micro grants to local community based organisations.
Volunteers must identify as disabled or have a long-term health condition. This includes hidden disabilities, such as mental health and/or people with learning disabilities.
Key responsibilities:
- Attending training including Disability Equality, GDPR and any other training relevant to the role.
- Attending online meetings (there will be a minimum of six hour long meetings over the course of the voluntary placement).
- Keeping track of updates and reviewing circulated materials.
- Reviewing applications to the WECIL VIP Micro Fund.
- Supporting VIP Project Worker to shortlist and decide on the successful applicants.
- Providing feedback to successful and unsuccessful applications (verbal and/or written).
- Receive regular updates on projects via email or in meetings.
- Supporting the VIP Project Worker to promote the Micro Fund to the Community.
No prior experience is needed for this role; however, we are looking for a volunteer who has:
- Enthusiasm and a willingness to attend training.
- An understanding or a willingness to learn about Disability Equality and the Social Model of Disability.
- Ability to work in a team and make decisions as part of a team.
- An interest in the charity sector and supporting grassroots organisations.
- Good communication and listening skills.
