About Bristol Women’s Voice
Our vision: We believe that all women should have equitable access to opportunity in life, regardless of their background and circumstances. We want to see women’s equality and rights become a reality in Bristol – so that all women feel safe, seen and heard in the city they live, work or study in.
Our mission is to:
- create a movement that unites all women in Bristol to campaign together, celebrate our achievements and find support and information.
- listen and make heard the views and voices of women from across Bristol’s diverse communities, empowering them to influence decision-makers.
- support women’s organisations in Bristol to collaborate, grow and campaign on the rights and issues that matter to the women they represent.
Recruitment
We are recruiting for a Treasurer to join our active board of Trustees.
The Role
As a Trustee, you will
- Attend bi-monthly evening board meetings (mostly virtual but some in person)
- Oversee the governance, performance and delivery of the charity, including through participating in an annual strategic planning day,
- Play an active role in supporting the charity’s work through involvement with others in your area of expertise attending events e.g. International Women’s Day event;
- Provide advice and guidance and supporting ad hoc pieces of work.
Additional responsibilities of the treasurer
- Work with the Director to oversee, approve and present budgets, accounts and financial statements to the Board.
- Provide financial support to the Director when required
- Provide assurance that Bristol Women’s Voice’s financial resources meet its present and future needs.
- Ensure Bristol Women’s Voice has an appropriate reserves policy.
- Prepare and present the financial report at the Annual General Meeting, drawing attention to important points in a coherent and easily understandable way.
- Ensure appropriate accounting procedures and controls are in place.
- Advise the board on the financial implications of Bristol Women’s Voice’s strategic plans.
- Keep the Board informed about its financial duties and responsibilities.
- Contribute to Bristol Women’s Voice fundraising strategy.
Induction and training will be provided and new trustees will have the opportunity to buddy with a more experienced trustee to support confidence and development.
Criteria
The successful candidate should have a financial background, demonstrable experience of managing large budgets and ideally, experience of working with QuickBooks or other finance software.

Pay
Trustee roles are unpaid, but we offer training and personal development, as well as the opportunity to contribute as part of an inspiring group of women.
