We are recruiting for a Treasurer, and up to four other volunteer Trustees to join our active board.

We are particularly looking for Trustees with skills in Human Resources, Communications, Public Relations and legal backgrounds.

The Role

As a Trustee, you will:

  • Attend bi-monthly evening board meetings; (currently virtual)
  • Oversee the governance, performance and delivery of the charity, including through participating in an annual strategic planning day,
  • Play an active role in supporting the charity’s work through involvement with others in your area of expertise attending events e.g. International Women’s Day event;
  • Provide advice and guidance and supporting ad hoc pieces of work.

Induction and training will be provided and new trustees will have the opportunity to buddy with a more experienced trustee to support confidence and development.

Membership

Trustees are required to be a member of Bristol Women’s Voice, and be a woman living, working or studying in Bristol.

A commitment to feminist principles, and passion for making a difference are critical, as well as leadership potential and willingness to work within governance structures.

We seek as diverse a Board as possible and welcome applications from women from a range of backgrounds. We particularly welcome applications from women from Black and minoritised backgrounds, women from disadvantaged backgrounds and those with lived experience of disability.

Pay

Trustee roles are unpaid, but we offer training and personal development, as well as the opportunity to contribute as part of an inspiring group of women.

To Apply

To apply send us a 500-word (max.) statement or a short video clip (on your phone is fine) of you answering the questions:

  • Why you want to be a BWV trustee,
  • Why you think you would be good at this role,
  • What experience would make you a good fit for the role.

Please also include details of two people who can provide a reference for you.  We also ask you to help us be filling in this equalities monitoring form.

The deadline for applications is on-going and so you can apply any time. We aim to get back to you within one week of hearing from you to ask you for an informal follow up conversation. After this we will invite you to attend one of our meetings to see if you think we’re a good fit.

If you’d like to arrange an informal chat about the role before applying, you can contact Carole, Chair, on chair@bristolwomensvoice.org.uk or Katy, Director, on director@bristolwomensvoice.org.uk
