We will be holding an open meeting for all community members within the Frome Vale ward. The meeting’s purpose will be to discuss their ideas for the revitalisation of a historic red phone box located on Gill Avenue, Fishponds.
The phone box has long been neglected and has fallen into disrepair. It has been vandalised and become a spot for fly-tipping, making it an eye-sore for the local neighbourhood.
A number of local people have already expressed an interest in turning the phone box into something which will benefit the wider community by bringing people closer together and generating pride within the area.
This meeting will be a space for you to share your ideas and vision for the phone box.
There will also be an opportunity to hear from a couple of guest speakers from other community groups who have already completed community transformations of phone boxes in their communities – Sea Mills Mini Museum, and potentially others who run toy libraries, book exchanges or seed swaps.
You can get ideas and inspiration from others whilst also finding out more about best practice and challenges of getting these types of projects off the ground.
Beyond the meeting, we would love local community members to join a 'Friends of the phone box' group who will lead on the phone box transformation, with our support. Could this be you???
If you are a parent who would like to attend the meeting, please consider bringing the kids along to the event. We would love to hear their ideas too! Please let us know if you do plan to bring them along so we can arrange activities to entertain them so you can participate fully in the meeting.
This is event didn’t receive funding from Bristol City Council to take part in Bristol Community Festival.
