We are looking for people with lived experience of either the criminal justice system or a history of problematic drug and alcohol use to support people who are leaving prison.
As a Peer, you will play a crucial role in supporting someone to navigate their first day and first few weeks back in the community and provide insight, advice, support and mentorship to help them engage with services and successfully reintegrate into their local community.
We run a busy and exciting service in BANES that supports people who use drugs and alcohol.
We are looking for a wide range of peer supporters to support clients who are leaving prison by:
- Meeting clients at the prison gate on the day of release
- Supporting clients to attend appointments on the day of release
- Co-facilitating evidenced based groups with staff
- Providing ongoing structured peer support in the weeks following a client’s release
- Providing signposting, information and advice to help meet clients’ wider needs
