St Peter’s Hospice is wonderfully supported by the community, who fundraise and donate money in a variety of ways. The fundraising team work hard to ensure each supporter is thanked and feels valued, and we now have a dedicated Supporter Care Team to manage this we are hoping to improve this care even further.

What you will be doing

You will be helping the new Supporter Care Team trial a thanking initiative of calling every new St Peter’s supporter each month.

We would like to call each new donor every month so we can thank them personally, find out more about them, and be able to support any future fundraising, volunteering, or event participation they may be interested in.

Initially we would like the trial to discover:

  • how long each call would take
  • how many calls one individual could get through in a day, to understand volunteer/staff capacity
  • how these calls were received by supporters and what, if any, actions flow from them

Skills, experience, and qualities needed

As Supporter Care Volunteer you will be an ambassador for St Peter’s Hospice and our fundraising team. You will be:

  • Empathetic, outgoing, and approachable, with a confident telephone manner
  • A good listener and communicator
  • Open to learning and developing new skills
  • Prepared to work alone and as part of a team
  • Comfortable with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

Where and when

The Fundraising Office is based in Long Ashton, just south-west of Bristol. There is parking on-site and good bus links.

There is an option to carry out the role remotely. Contact us to find out more.

We welcome any amount of time you can give us but are looking for someone who can commit a consistent amount of time each week or month. We can work with you on what time you can spare and fit volunteering around your existing commitments.

Support offered

You will receive regular supervision, guidance and feedback from the Supporter Care Team Lead and Individual Giving Manager. You'll be working within the wider, friendly, fundraising team, and there is always someone around to ask for help.

Training

You will undergo a comprehensive training and induction process that will familiarise you with all aspects of your role.
