Our Supported Employment Buddies play an important role by supporting people with learning disabilities or autism on our Ready, Willing & Able supported employment program. The people on our supported employment program are looking to take that first step into employment. The Supported Employment Buddy will:
- Mentor them through the job search, supporting them to set up their job site profiles and offering advice on completing applications.
- Act as that friendly face and offer words of wisdom and encouragement as they attend their interviews.
- Use your local knowledge and connections to seek out local businesses and job opportunities for them to explore.
- Spread the word on disability confident approaches to employment and jobs.
The difference you’ll make
Volunteering as one of our Supported Employment Buddies provides people we support with the opportunity to participate and contribute to their communities. When you help someone secure employment, you’re supporting them to be an equal citizen while helping to make inclusion a reality for even more adults and children with disabilities.
Benefits to the volunteer
This is a fantastic opportunity to give something positive back to society and have a direct impact on people’s lives. The Supported Employment Buddy role is a rewarding opportunity for you to empower the people we support to thrive, whilst developing your mentoring skill set. We provide training to help you get the most out of the role.
