We are opening a new superstore on the Clifton Triangle which will be much larger than our other high street shops. It will stock a mixture of donated and new furniture, homeware, clothing and small electricals. 

We're looking for volunteers to join the shop floor team to help raise as much income as possible. From assisting customers with product selection to creating attractive displays in the Fashion or Furniture department, there's lots of ways you can help.

What will my role include?

You may be involved in one task or a combination of different tasks. You can let us know what interests you. 

  • Welcoming and assisting our customers, donors, and other visitors to the shop. 
  • Assisting customers with product selection and queries. 
  • Using the till, taking payment, and packing goods.  
  • Supporting fundraising initiatives, including the promotion of the St Peter’s Lottery. 
  • Pricing goods for sale in accordance with guidelines. 
  • Creating interesting, visually attractive displays, considering current trends, seasons and promotions.  
  • Replenishing stock. 
  • Receiving donations and thanking donors. Taking donor gift aid details and encouraging new donors to sign up to Gift Aid. 
  • Acting as a key holder to allow colleagues to take short breaks. 

What qualities do I need? 

As a Superstore Volunteer you will be an ambassador for St Peter’s Hospice. You’ll need to be/have, or be keen to work towards the following:

  • Good listening and communication skills.
  • Good customer service skills. 
  • Enthusiastic and reliable.
  • Open to learning and developing new skills
  • Well presented, friendly and polite in a variety of situations.
  • Prepared to work alone and as part of a team.
  • Enjoy interacting with people.
  • Prepared to handle a variety of clothes/electrical items/furniture in a busy working environment.
  • An interest in furniture and/or fashion
  • Capable of dealing with small DIY tasks.
  • Physically fit enough to lift and move furniture and/or move clothing rails and bags.

How much time do I need to commit? 

We welcome any amount of time you can give us. Some volunteers will work a couple of hours a week, others might come in for 2 or 3 days. We can be flexible around your existing commitments.

What support & training will I get?

You will receive regular supervision, guidance and feedback from the Superstore Manager and Assistant Manager. You'll be working within the wider, friendly, SPH Retail team and there’s always someone around to ask for help.  

How do I get there? 

You’ll be based at the new Clifton Superstore. It’s the old Bath Store building on the Clifton Triangle, at the top of Jacob’s Wells Road. It’s very near to lots of bus routes such as the 1, 2, 4, 8, U1, 505 and is a 10 minute bus ride from the city centre. On foot, It’s a 15 minute walk from Clifton train station or the city centre.
